3 HIKING ROUTES IN GALICIA

Any time of the year is good for a good hike, don’t miss these 3 hiking routes in Galicia. The fields of flowers, the Galician coasts, the greenery of the mountains, all this invites you to explore the many trails in the region. From GaliciaExperience we recommend these 3 routes to discover Galicia, suitable for all audiences.

1- Sil Canyon Route – Santa Cristina Monastery in the Ribeira Sacra

We are now going with a circular route, ideal for discovering the charms of the Ribeira Sacra, which starts from the municipality of Parada de Sil. During this tour we will discover well-kept vineyards, centuries-old chestnut trees and ancient oak groves that surround the magnificent Sil Canyon and its beautiful viewpoints. In addition to the spectacular views, hidden among the vegetation that predominates in the area, we can visit the monastery of Santa Cristina, one of the jewels of the Romanesque.

2- Guitiriz Water Route in Lugo
We change places to start a route of almost 20 kilometers through the province of Lugo. It is a long route but very easy to do, since it has no slopes. On the other hand, the route is along the banks of the Parga and Ladroil rivers and, in addition to its natural value, the Guitiriz water route stands out for its architectural interest, with a multitude of bridges, mills and churches that we will see along our route.

Furthermore, one of the most notable attractions of this route are the fountains, which are said to have healing waters.

3- Route from Laxe to Punta Insua on the Costa da Morte

We traveled to the Costa da Morte, specifically to the urban area of Laxe, to tour the western part of Insua, to the Laxe lighthouse and returning along the eastern part. The path that begins in an urban area becomes a path surrounded by ferns, brambles and pine trees at the top of the cliffs, where we will get impressive views of the Laxe cove and the mouth of the Anllóns river.

Finally, the route from Laxe to Punta Insua is a circular route of about 5 kilometers. There are corners such as Punta da Ola, Furna do Asno or Punta do Boi, some of the most interesting formations on the Costa da Morte.
